Packet from my mom: 母さんからの小包
I received the packet from my mom today. Actually, my mom was a little bit worried about her packet not being able to make it to USA because 1) The post office person told her that in America they check any boxes very carefully and strictly, so it is very troublesome to send stuff to USA these days. 2) My mom had to write all the items in the box in ENGLISH, which she said that she hasn't studied since her junior high.
今日母さんからの小包が届きました。実は、母はこの小包が届かないんじゃないかと随分心配していたのです。というのも１）郵便局の人が、「最近、アメリカに送るのは本当に厳しいんですよ。」と言われたし、２）中学校以来勉強してない英語で、中身の物を書かなくちゃいけなかったし。My mom wrote: "Cook, Letter Set, Book, Kitten Dog, Sleeping Weayer"
And inside the box has a full of nice things. One of the things was this box of nice sweets. Wait a minute?! Where did she mention this in her description?? It is quite amazing that this box could actually make it to my place if they really checked the box carefully as the guy at the post office had said.
母さんが書いたのは：「シェフ（×）、レターセット（○）、本（○）、子猫犬（？！）、スリーピングウエイヤ〜（△）」
でいろいろ箱から出て来て、その中には、こんなに素敵なお菓子の詰め合わせ。って、おい、これ、書いてないや〜ん。っていうか、郵便局の人が言っていたように厳しいんだったら、これが届いたのは驚きですよ。

I was really touched by this present, picturing my mom struggling with her English at the post office. Thanks, Mom.
とはいえ、郵便局で一生懸命英語に取り組む母の姿が目に浮かんで来て、このプレゼントになんだかこみ上げてくるものがありました。やっぱり親っていいもんですね。
ちなみに、アレはこのお菓子の詰め合わせ、気に入ったみたいで、ウキウキしています。うちは朝ご飯にパンとかの時もあるけど、パンがないときやおいしいクッキー類があると、クッキーになるので、アレは、「明日の朝ご飯、楽しみだねぇ〜」と言いながら、さっそく一つ食べておりました。
