Edo's 11 months birthday: エド、１１ヶ月になりました。

It's passed by so fast and he became 11 months now.

気がつけば、もう１１ヶ月です。早いものです。来月は１歳になるんですね。

Now he can open his own present! In fact, he found this present two weeks ago in the room and tried to open it already...

今では自分でプレゼントも開けられるようになりました。実は、エド、部屋のすみにあるこのプレゼントを２週間ほど前に見つけて、開けようと試みていたんですけど、、、。
Edo got a little bit frustrated, not being able to take out the toy in the box.

なかなか中のおもちゃが取り出せなくて、いらつき始めました。

In fact, it was kind of difficult for me to open it too. Finally he got his new toy to play with. The video is here.

Edo 10 months old Birthday: 英土、１０ヶ月になりました。

With this toy, Edo learned how to pull a string to bring things toward himself.
このおもちゃで、最初に学んだことは、ひもをひっぱって、物を自分の手元に近づけることでした。

エドの三輪車：Edo's tricycle
エドのおじいちゃんおばあちゃんが、サンドリーノの誕生日で三輪車を見て喜ぶエドに、ちょっと早いけどと言って同じ三輪車をプレゼントしてくれました。
After Edo's grandparents saw Edo enjoying playing Sandrino's tricycle on his birthday, they bought the same tricycle for Edo as his early birthday present.

After Edo got bored, he dragged the dog down from the tricycle and then he sat there with his big smile.
それに飽きたら、わんちゃんを引きずり落として、自分が座って満足げでした。

8 months!: 八ヶ月になりました！
Time flies and Edo already became 8 months.
本当にあっという間？にエドも８ヶ月になりました。
Ale finally gave a box of LEGO to Edo. Ale has been waiting for this present for a long long time.

Present arrival: プレゼント到着
These days whenever some boxes arrive, Edo is the first one who tries to open it.
この頃、何か箱が届くと、エドが即やってきて、開けようとします。
Edo doesn't show much of interest in things inside. Edo wants a box and plays with it for quite some time. The video of Edo playing this box.
中のものは、あまり興味なし。でも、箱が大好き。こうやって、ずっ〜と遊んでられます。

アレと私はもちろん中身の方に興味あり。これは、アレの両親からのバレンタインデーのプレゼントでした。どうやら、このチョコは、世界で一番と言われているとか。
Ale and I got more interested in the things inside! They were Valentine's presents from Ale's parents. Supposedly these chocolates are the best chocolates in the world!

To Chez Panisse: シャパニース
We received this invitation as the Christmas present from Magnafiume to go to this fancy restaurant "Chez Panisse".
クリスマスプレゼントとして、エンリコ家族から、ファンシーなレストランの「シャパニース」に連れていってもらいました。
This is after dinner, they allowed us to take a picture at their kitchen.
夕食後、キッチンで写真も撮らせてもらいました。
This was on house and served in the beginning. Some sort of fish on the bread.
これはサービスで最初に出してくれた一品。おそらくフランスパンの上に魚？がのっている。

They were placed next to each other. Sandrino was curious to know what Edo was doing in his stroller.

We have been telling people that we are going to buy a prius, and now Tonbe's family gave this prius... and now with this prius problem in the U.S., we started wondering if we should really buy this car or not...
プリウスを買おうと思っているんだと豪語してから随分になりますが（まだ、買ってません。試乗もしたし、トヨタのディラーにも結構足を運んだけど）、とんべの家族がこのプリウスミニチュアを送ってくれました。ま、今、アメリカで問題になっているこのプリウス。今となっては、果たして、本当に買う日が来るのでしょうか。

Stanford baby and spider man baby...
スタンフォードベイビー、スパイダーマンベイビー
Last year when I was still pregnant, one of my students gave me a gift. (Stanford socks) When I received them, they looked so small and it was hard to believe that Edo could put them on, but Edo's feet were too small and finally grew enough to put on this socks.
去年、まだ妊娠中だった時に、教え子がくれたスタンフォードのソックス。もらった時は、こんなに小さいのに入るのかな〜なんて思っていたけど、、、。英土の足はとても小さくて、やっとこのソックスもはけるようになりました。
These days, Edo enjoyed playing with his own fingers, so whenever and wherever, he plays with his hands. His hand movements remind me of the spider man.
そして、最近は、指遊びが大好きで、気がつけば、いつも自分の指で遊んでいます。なんとなく、スパイダーマンが、スパイダーの糸をあんでるかんじですが、、、。

Gifts: プレゼント
We received so many gifts from people. Our door bell kept ringing almost every day ever since we came back home from the hospital.
いろんな人からプレゼントが送られてきました。病院から帰ってきてから、けっこう宅配の人が毎日のようにいろんなものを届けてくれました。

We actually wanted to buy this for Edo ourselves, since Edo started moving his eyes and following the things that he sees. Elisa's mother gave this as a gift.
これは、見つけた時、買おうかな〜と思っていたもので、ちょうど英土も、物を目で追うようになってきたので、いいなぁと思っていたところに、エリザのお母さんがプレゼントしてくれました。

Happy Birthday for Ale: アレ、誕生日おめでとう！
It's the 19th of January. Luckily, this year it was a vacation for me, but not for Ale. So I spent a day preparing for some nice dinner at home.
１月１９日。今年は、私は休日だったのだけど、アレはお仕事。てなわけで、一日かけて、何かいい晩ご飯でもと腕によりをかけて作りました。
This is a big chunk of parmesan cheese which Ale's parents asked Enrico to bring back to us. Huuuge!
これは、アレの両親がエンリコ夫婦に頼んで私達に、とくれたパルメザンチーズ。でかっ！
It did not take Ale to finish the dinner, so we couldn't take a picture of it, but we managed to take a picture of the apple tart for his birthday cake.
アレがすんごい勢いでディナーを食べ始めたもんだから、写真もとれず。ま、せめて、アップルタルトケーキはとることができました。

Tonbe and Chiichan sent Ale a birthday present. It arrived earlier, but Ale waited to open it until today. It was a digital photo frame. Thanks!
とんべとちーちゃんがアレに誕生日プレゼントを送ってくれていて、ちょっと前に着いていたのだけど、アレは誕生日まで待つといい、今日まで待ってました。で、中からデジタルの写真たてがでてきました。ありがとう〜！

Packet from Genova, Italy: イタリアのジェノバからの小包
An unexpected packet has arrived today. I came back home and we opened it together.
It was from Ale's aunt and uncle in Genova for Easter. A lot of chocolates. :)
In fact, we almost finished all the chocolates from Christmas.. :P
今日は予期せぬ小包が届きました。家に帰って一緒に開けました。それは、ジェノバに住むアレの伯父さんと伯母さんからで、イースターのチョコでした。実は、クリスマスにもらっていたチョコレートがなくなって来たところだったので、、、へへへ。There are two packets in the box and one of them was a box of dark chocolates in very colorful wrappings. (Look at outside. Daylight saving time started last week, so it was already around 6:30 pm, but it was still bright outside. The vase flowers are from the farmer's market on weekends.)
小包の中には２つ箱入りの包みがあり、その一つは、カラフルな包みのダークチョコレートでした。（ところで、窓の外を見てください。先週からサマータイムが始まり、６時半というのに、この明るさ。でもって花瓶のお花は週末のファーマーズマーケットで買いました。）

Valentine's day:バレンタインデー
I guess both Ale and I tried to give a nice surprise to each other, so there was a little bit confusion. Ale told me which train to take to come back home, so I decided to wait for him at the station to surprise him, but he secretly took an earlier train to come back home with a bunch of roses. So when the train arrived, I was shocked because Ale was not there. When Ale arrived home, I was not at home... oh well...
私は私で何かいいサプライズをと思っていたのだけど、どうやらアレもアレで何かいいサプライズをと考えていたりして、この日は少し複雑でした。アレは、どの電車で帰ってくるかを教えてくれたので、こっそり駅に行って待っていてやろう！と私は思ったわけです。で、アレはそれもより早い電車に乗って、薔薇の花束を買って家に帰って驚かせてやろうと思っていたようで。だから、電車が到着しても、アレが降りてこず、アレも家に帰っても私はおらず、という結果となってしまったわけです。はぁあ。

Ale gave me a bunch of flowers while I made a nice chocolate bunet.
アレは薔薇の花束をくれ、私はチョコレートのプディングを作りました。

It seems that Ale enjoys his flowers more than I do.
どうやら、アレの方が薔薇を楽しんでいたりするわけですが。

Christmas!: クリスマス
My mom flew all the way from Japan to California to spend some time with us this Christmas and new year days.
お母さんが遥々日本から、クリスマスから年末年始にかけて来てくれた。
My mom got a new coach bag from us and I got a new gucci wallet from Ale.
お母さんには「コーチの鞄」を、私は「グッチの財布」をアレからもらいました。

I gave Ale a new ipod touch!
アレには、「iPodタッチ」をプレゼントしました！
Ale received a lot of goodies from my mom too.
アレは、お母さんから、日本からの贈り物をもらいました。
We received a new flying pan from my mom. It is a very easy-to-use and nice pan!
母さんから、フライパンをもらいました。とっても使いやすくて、いいフライパンです。

Christmas came to our home... :)
というわけで、クリスマスが我が家にも来たわけです。^o^

Christmas Packet from "zii" in Genova:
ジェノバに住むおじさんとおばさんからクリスマスのパケットが届きました。
Well, the packet was really covered with all the stamps.
っていうか、切手、どんだけ〜〜！思わず、数えてしまいました。
Then, Ale said proudly, "there are three stamps which they missed putting stamp on. After we detach them, we can reuse them."
そんな時、アレは誇らしげに、「ここ、スタンプ押し忘れているのが３枚あるね。はがせば、もう一回使えるね」って。ほんま、どんだけ〜〜！

Inside the packet, there is a box and then there is a nice wrapped gift in it.
小包の中には、箱が入ってまして、その中にはこのギフトが入ってました。

There are a message, explaining all the flavors in the box.
でもって、箱の中にある一つ一つの味が書かれておりました。

We opened it and found a full of chocolates.
開けましたよ。で、すんごい量のチョコレートが入っていました。

Chestnuts? I thought. Dangerous... Very dangerous, however, just thinking of having this much chocolate at home makes me really happy. the power of chocolate...

栗か？と思う。危ない。こんな大量のチョコがうちにあると考えるだけで、、。
でも、幸せ。これぞ、チョコレートのパワー。
