To Chez Panisse: シャパニース
We received this invitation as the Christmas present from Magnafiume to go to this fancy restaurant "Chez Panisse".
クリスマスプレゼントとして、エンリコ家族から、ファンシーなレストランの「シャパニース」に連れていってもらいました。
This is after dinner, they allowed us to take a picture at their kitchen.
夕食後、キッチンで写真も撮らせてもらいました。
This was on house and served in the beginning. Some sort of fish on the bread.
これはサービスで最初に出してくれた一品。おそらくフランスパンの上に魚？がのっている。
Warm artichoke and chanterelle mushroom salad with chicories and goose prosciutto.
サラダは、アーティチョーク、マッシュルームのサラダに、ガチョウのプロシュート。
Dungeness crab consomme and herb ravioli.

They were placed next to each other. Sandrino was curious to know what Edo was doing in his stroller.

Sandrino and Edo are both growing so fast and now they started playing together somehow?!?!

Ale's birthday presents!
アレの誕生日プレゼント！
Ale received his presents... and opened them.
いろいろもらったプレゼントを開けていました。
This is Ralph Lauren's cloth for Edo, which matches with Ale's birthday present from Tonbe's family. Thanks!
これは、とんべ夫婦から、英土とおそろいでもらったラルフの服。ありがとうね。

We have been telling people that we are going to buy a prius, and now Tonbe's family gave this prius... and now with this prius problem in the U.S., we started wondering if we should really buy this car or not...
プリウスを買おうと思っているんだと豪語してから随分になりますが（まだ、買ってません。試乗もしたし、トヨタのディラーにも結構足を運んだけど）、とんべの家族がこのプリウスミニチュアを送ってくれました。ま、今、アメリカで問題になっているこのプリウス。今となっては、果たして、本当に買う日が来るのでしょうか。
This is the menu that I made for Ale's birthday to celebrate on the weekend. Steamed salmon's in a foil with wild rice.
これは、アレの誕生日を家で週末祝った時のメニュー。鮭のホイル焼きに、ワイルドライスを添えました。

On his birthday, we went out to a Japanese restaurant called "Tanto".
誕生日の夜は、日本料理の「たんと」に行きました。
We ordered a variety of foods; fatty tuna tataki(a type of sashimi. It is quickly and lightly seared outside, leaving it raw inside), Shishamo, a type of small fish, and crab croquette.
いろいろ好きなものを注文して、、、。トロのたたき、ししゃも、カニクリームコロッケ。

Ale, tasty? 美味しかった？
Edo was sleeping in the first 30-40 minutes at the restaurant and after that, he was very clam and quiet in his car seat. So it was a nice dinner out!
英土はと言いますと、最初の３０分ほどは寝ていたのだけど、その後起きてからも、カーシートに静かにおさまっていてくれたので、助かりました。なかなかいい宴でした。

It's been a while since we got together last time. We celebrated a little late Christmas.
こないだ会ってからずいぶんになります、、、。ちょっと遅いクリスマスをしました。
Edo got a new toy from his zii.
英土もおじさん、おばちゃんから、新しいおもちゃをもらいました。

When I came downstairs...

Then I came to see him and found him eating the book...
って、前に来てみたら、食べてるし、、、。

Lately, Edo put anything in his mouth...
最近は、何でも、口の中です。

First Solid Foods:離乳食始めました！
Since Edo became 6 months old, we finally started with some solids finally.
英土も６ヶ月になり、やっと離乳食を始めました！

For the one who drinks,

it's hard! I never thought that eating and drinking could be such a struggle task until now.
大変です。食べたり、飲んだりすることが、初めはこんなに大変だっただなんて、今まで思いもしませんでした。

Back to California: カリフォルニアに戻って来ました！
Until we have Edo, we have never thought that babies would have a heavier jet lag than adults since it seems that they are always sleeping after all, but we were totally utterly completely wrong. So we had to struggle with Edo's jet lag in Italy since he was a good kid, sleeping on flight.
エドが生まれまで、赤ちゃんが時差ボケするなんて思わなかった。赤ちゃんなんていつも寝てるんだし、、ぐらいに思っていたのだけど、かなり間違っていたわ。フライトでぐっすりねてくれたぶん、イタリアでは１０日間ほどエドの時差ボケにつき合わされました。毎朝３時ごろ起きて、全然寝ないのだから、、、。
Therefore, since we came back to California, no matter how sleepy Edo was, we tried to entertain Edo in the afternoon, so that he did not have to suffer too much from his jet lag. And this time this strategy worked... maybe, at least for a few days.
というわけで、カリフォルニアに帰ってきてからは、エドが眠そうにしていても昼間はなるべく一緒に遊んで寝ささないようにしました。今回は少し軽めの時差ボケだったかな？

At the airport: 空港で
2 weeks passed by so fast and on January 1st we had to leave Italy.
２週間はあっという間で、元旦にイタリアを経つことに。
After check-in, we had some breakfast at the airport together.
チェックインした後、空港で朝ご飯を食べました。
