Dinner at Arpita's: アピータのお家にお呼ばれ

Arpita invited us to their NEW HOUSE to have dinner. Their house is new and 4 bed-rooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, dinning room, living room and family room. Amazingly big house. We really liked their new place as much as their Indian foods. I really liked their Indian foods and they said that next time they will teach me how to make them. :)

アピータが、夕食にと新居に招いてくれた。かれらのお家は、新築、４部屋、３バスルーム、キッチン、ダイニング、リビングルーム、ファミリールームという本当に大きなお家だった。とってもいいところで、作ってくれたインド料理と同様、とても気に入った。手作りのインド料理は本当に美味しくて、次回はどうやら作り方を教えてくれるとか！楽しみ！

Lunch at Zuni Cafe: ズーニカフェでランチ
Giorgio suggested this place to us. This place serves wonderful raw oysters, (at least 15 different kinds of oysters) the best burger in the city, and very thin french fries. (and others) So we came here to try them. We arrived here around 1 pm and had to wait for 1.5 hours to get a table. Very popular place.
ジョルジョ推薦のレストラン。このレストランはとっても美味しい生牡蠣（１５種類以上の牡蠣がある）、サンフランシスコで一番美味しいというハンバーガー、そしてとても細切りのフライドポテトなどが有名だとか。さっそく行ってみました。レストランに着いたのが午後１時頃で、１時間半待ちで、やっと席についた。とても人気のレストランみたい。

these days Alessandro is into raising his orchid plants at home, Elisa and Enrico found this place where have a lot of orchid plants to visit.
この頃、家で蘭の栽培に凝っているアレッサンドロ。エリザとエンリコが、蘭がたくさんあるこの場所を見つけてくれたので一緒に行ってみることにした。

Instead of finding some orchids, Ale found this plant called "Buddha's hand".
ランを見つける前に、アレは、「仏陀の手」という英語名の植物を発見。日本名は、ブッシュカンだとか。

It was a very warm inside. They made this place a tropical environment.

Pasta finally for dinner: やっとパスタのディナー

Well, Ale strongly requested for pasta dinner. So he was a chef tonight. He made this pasta with shrimps. They were really good!
アレッサンドロが、むしょうにパスタを食べたがり、晩ご飯はパスタに。というわけで、アレに作ってもらいました。エビ入りパスタは、かなり美味しかった。

To Escher's exhibition: エッシャー展へ

This piece is my favorite: "Day and Night" I really like its concept.
これが、私のお気に入り作品：「昼と夜」という作品で、目の錯覚を上手に使った、面白いコンセプトが隠れている作品。

After the exhibition, we all came back to our place to have a tea time. Enrico tried my Italian-learning program. He was upset when he got "keep practicing" on his prounciation.

美術館の後、みんなで家に来てお茶をした。エンリコは、私のイタリア語学習プログラムに挑戦したが、発音で、「もっとがんばろう！」となって、かなり動揺していた。

Purchase at IKEA: イケヤでの購入

I have been thinking of organizing things in the kitchen nicely for a long time. And finally we bought this shelf at IKEA on the other day. Ale built it for us.

ずっと台所にあるごちゃこちゃした物を何とかしたいなぁと思っていた。そして、やっと、イケヤでこの棚を購入。アレがさっそく組み立ててくれた。

Movie /Domino's Pizza Night: 映画／ドミノピザの夜

This is the movie we watched. An Italian movie called "la meglio gioventu". It was a 6 hours movie, but it was really really good. One of the best movies I have watched. It is long, but it does not make you feel that long.
これが、私たちの観た映画。イタリア映画で、「輝ける青春」という映画。６時間の映画だけど、とってもいい映画だった。６時間であることを感じさせないぐらい、とってもいい映画だった。おすすめ！
Yes, pizza! We had a large pizza together, followed by popcorns! Very American life, isn't it?
ピザ〜！Lサイズのピザを二人で食べた。その後、ポップコーンも。とってもアメリカンな生活でしょ？

Lunch at IKEA: イケヤでランチWe went to IKEA to find some stuff. Ale got hungry, so we decided to eat here. Ale had salmon and an apple cake. I had a turkey wrap. It was cheap and good.
いくつか買いたいものがあって、イケヤにやって来た。途中、アレがお腹を空かせたので、ここで食べることにした。アレは、スモークサーモンとアップルケーキ。私は、ターキーラップを食べた。安くて、おいしかった。

Dinner at Giorgio's: ジョルジョ宅でディナー

Ale received his birthday present from Giorgio. We tried to get together for the last several weeks, but somehow our schedule did not allow us. Finally we got together.
ジョルジョから誕生日プレゼントをもらうアレ。この数週間、集まろうと言いつつ、お互いのスケジュールが合わず、会えなかったのだけど、やっとディナーを一緒にできた。

Ale opened his present and it was an album and a photo frame. I am making a nice album to organize some pictures from our Peru trip. :)
プレゼントを開けるアレ。アルバムと写真のフレームをもらった。このアルバムに、ペルー旅行の写真を入れて素敵なアルバムにしてあげると約束した。

These yellow flowers are Ale's favorite. This tree seems to bloom at the same time as cherry trees.
この黄色の花は、アレの大好きなで、桜と同じ頃に、開花するみたい。

これは湖だった？ようだけど、今は水なし。

Eiko's baby shower party: 永子さんのベビーシャワーパーティー（臨月前に、お母さんのために、友達やらが集まって、ベビーへのプレゼントをあげるパーティー）

Baby shower party holds some game activities: Ale was smelling a kind of baby foods in the diaper and he guessed what it was. "this is cherry!" (Ale was wrong, it was a sweet potato)
ベビーシャワーではゲームが行われる。（アレ参加中）おむつのベビーフードの一種を嗅いで、それが何かを当てる。「これはチェリーだよ」と。（アレは見事にはずれ。正解はさつまいもでした。）どうやったら、チェリーとさつまいもを間違えるのか、、、。

Eiko was trying hard to get the right answer! And she got almost all the smells right. Ready to become a mother!
永子さんも、一生懸命、正解を求めて奮闘中。ほぼ完璧にどの臭い？匂い？も当てることができていたので、どうやら、お母さんになる準備万端かしら？

For their baby quilt branket, each person tied a knot in this quilt for good luck. Yes, men too!
赤ん坊のために、キルトでつくったブランケットに、一人ずつベビーの幸運を祈り、結び目を作っていく。もちろん、男性も。
Dan received this stuffed animal with a diaper so that he can practice changing a diaper for his real baby perfectly. :)
ダンさんは、おしめをしたぬいぐるみをプレゼントにもらった。来たるベビーのために、それまでたくさんおしめを替える練習をしておくためだとか。がんばれ〜ダンさん！

Weekend Breakfast:週末の朝ごはんI don't want to wake up early on weekends, but my body is not so adjustable, so I ended up with getting up early. So I decided to make something nice for breakfast until Alessandro gets up (usually 9 am for weekends, 6 am for weekdays). Yes, apple strudel. :)

週末の朝は、早起きしたくないと思っても、私の体は（年とともに？）融通が効かなくなってきているのか、早く目が覚めてしまった。ので、、アレッサンドロが起きるまでに（週末は９時頃、平日は６時に起床）、何かおいしものでも朝食に作ることにした。リンゴのシュトッルーデル（渦巻きパイ）を作りました。^o^~!

While I was baking the strudel, I peeled a mango and a kiwi fruit. Finally Ale woke up and made a nice cappucino to go well with all the rest of our breakfast. :)

シュトッルーデル（渦巻きパイ）を焼いている間、マンゴとキュウイを準備した。やっとアレが起きてきて、この朝食に合うようにと、おいしいカプチーノを入れてくれた。^o^

Kebab Night: ケバブの宴 Friday night..., so we were thinking of going out, but Ale was really tired from weekdays work, so instead I decided to make chicken kebab for the first time. I was always wondering how to make the kebab whenever we went out to eat the kebab at an Iranian restaurant. Yes, this new recipe is added to Magnamotto house. :)
金曜の夜。どこかにいこうかと考えていたのだけど、アレは一週間の仕事の疲れが、、、。というわけで、そのかわりに、この私が、鶏肉のケバブに初挑戦することにした。イラン料理のレストランに行ってケバブを注文するたびに、どうやって作るんだろう？と思っていたし。そして、新たにこのレシピ、マニャモト家に加わりました。^o^

Kashiwa-mochi and Green tea: 柏餅と緑茶

We bought this mochi at a Japanese market on the other day. Every once in a while, I feel like eating this mochi... This mochi is a typical sweet on Children's day in May. I know we are still in February.

先日日本のスーパーでこの餅を買った。時々、むしょうに柏餅が食べたくなる。まだ五月じゃないのに、、どうしてだろう？　

Making "Budino al Cioccolato": 「チョコレートプリン」作りAlessandro's mother gave me this packet before we came back to the States. She made it once for us and it was really good.
アレッサンドロのお母さんが、アメリカに帰る前に、これをくれた。アレのお母さんが、一度作ってくれて、とても美味しかった。

So... while Alessandro went for his work, Claudio and I started making this together.
というわけで、アレッサンドロが仕事に行っている間に、クラウディオと私はこれを一緒に作ることにした。

We had this pudding for dinner dessert. It turned out to be a really good dessert. Too good... then we only realized after eating, that we forgot to take a picture of it. Oh well...

このプリンをディナーのデザートとしていただいた。とっても美味しいデザートに仕上がりました。美味しすぎて、、、食べた後に、「そういや、写真を撮るのを忘れた！」ことに気づいた。ま、美味しかったから、いいっか。

Claudio's arrival: クラウディオ到着

Claudio came to our place from France. He brought us a lot of goodies from Europe. Now, we are eating this nice dessert.
フランスからクラウディオが家にやってきた。ヨーロッパからいろいろなものを持ってきてくれた。そのうちの一つを試食中。

Go to "Toysrus": トイザラスへ

Well... since Minami (my niece) has her two-year-old birthday, we came to Toysrus to buy something for her. Ale seemed more excited than ever. Ale said, "how about this for Minamichan?" I had to tell him, "First of all, she is a girl. And she is just two now."
I think that Ale wants to play with THIS TOY with minamichan.

みなみ（うちの姪っ子）が２歳の誕生日を迎えるので、何か買おうとトイザラスへやってきた。アレは、とっても興奮ぎみ。「ねぇえ、これ、みなみちゃんにどうかな〜？」とアレ。「みなみちゃんは、女の子だし、まだ２歳だよぉ〜」となだめることに。アレは、このおもちゃでみなみちゃんとあそびたそうだが、、、。

Yes, he found something he liked. For Minamichan, I guess we have to come back here some other time.
もちろん、アレは、好きなものをゲット。みなみちゃんのは、、、またの機会となりそう。

Foods for me: 私のための食料
I had sugery to extract both of my bottom wisdom teeth yesterday. The doctor used general anesthesia for the operation, so during the operation, I did not feel any pain except the needle of the anesthesia in the beginning. In any case, for the following several days, I cannot eat anything hard, so these are things that Ale bought for me. Icecreams (something cold and some calorie are good.) Yogurt (something I can easily eat) Soda (the doctor suggested to drink coke, ginger-ale, splite for nausea). Ale bought so many things which I cannot fit them all in one photo. Yes, I feel I am being spoilt...

昨日、下の親知らずを２本抜歯する手術をした。お医者さんは手術のためにと上半身麻酔をしたので、手術中は、最初の麻酔を入れる注射の針の痛みぐらいで、寝ている間に無事に治療は終わった。むこう何日間は、堅いものが食べられないことになっていたので、アレがさっそくいろいろ買ってきてくれた。アイスクリーム（冷たくてカロリーがあるもの）ヨーグルト（私がよく食べるので）炭酸飲料水（医者が、コーラ、ジンジャエール、スプライトは嘔吐に効くと言っていたので）アレは、１枚の写真に収まらないぐらいの物を色々買ってきてくれて、こころから、甘やかされているなぁと思いつつ、これもよい機会と思って、「〜が食べたいなぁ〜」とか「〜したいなぁ」と姫状態。へへへ

My sofa side-table. Every 4 to 6 hours, I am taking medicines. I have been watching TV and movies. When I feel tired of watching it, I listen to podcast (some radio shows I downloaded to my ipod.) It seems that American medicines work a lot for me, sometimes too much. So whenever I take any of the medicine, I fall asleep within 30 minutes.

ソファの横の即席テーブル。４−６時間ごとに薬を飲む事になっている。テレビを見たり、映画をみたり、、そういうのに疲れたら、ポッドキャスト（私のiPodにダウンロードしてあるラジオ番組）を聞いたり。アメリカの薬は本当によく効くみたいで、ちょっと効き過ぎかもと思う事も。どの薬を飲んでも、飲んだ後３０分以内には眠ってしまうのだから、、、。おそるべし。

After dinner...: 夕食後は？

Today's dessert is a Japanese style. Every once in a while, we have a craving for Japanese red bean sweet rice cakes. So we bought this one in Japan town on the other day. Yes, with a Japanese tea and Japanese Fuji apples and pears.
今日のデザートは、日本風。時に、大福というか餅がムショウに食べたくなる。というわけで、先日、日本町でこの大福をゲット。もちろん、緑茶と。日本のふじリンゴとなしも一緒に頂きました。

This was the second time for me to go to see their performance. (First time in Kyoto.) Their performance is always so fantastic and amazing.
鼓童の公演に行くのは、これが二回目。（初回は京都で）かれらの公演は、いつ見ても本当に驚かされる。

After DimSum lunch, we went out for a walk since it was a really nice weather outside today. It is the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE behind us.
ディムサムの昼食後、いい天気だったので、散歩に。後ろには、ゴールデンゲイトブリッジが。
It was a nice landscape for the Pacific ocean. We spent a while here just watching the waves.
太平洋が見渡せる風景が。しばらくの間、海を眺めて過ごした。

After our walk, we went to China Town in S.F. It was fun to walk around there. Ale found this shop where you can see hung ducks like this. Ale said, "No one would buy anything when the shop presents their products like this."

散歩の後、サンフランシスコのチャイナタウンへ。チャイナタウンを歩きまわるだけでもかなり楽しかった。アレは、こんな感じでダックがつり下げられているお店を発見して、ひと言。「こういう感じでは、イタリアでは、誰も買いたいと思わないだろうな。」と。

Italian learning: イタリア語学習

Ale bought me this Berlitz Italian software last weekend. Anyway, I hope this will help me to improve my Italian for summer.
先週の週末、アレがこのベルリッツイタリア語のソフトウエアを買ってくれた。これで、今年の夏に向けて、私のイタリア語も上達するといいのだけど、、、。

This program has the pronunciation function to check if your pronunciation is like a native speaker.
このプログラムには、自分の発音がネェイティブのようかどうかチェックしてくれる機能がある。

The blue one is my pronunciation and the red one is a native one.
青のが、私の発音で、赤のが、ネイティブの。

The result was "good job!". However, after practicing this program, I started wondering if Ale can make it to "Wow!" all the time since he is a native speaker. So last night, I asked him if he can try this program and he did with his confidence. However, he ended up with getting the message "keep practicing" several times and he started shouting, "No!!! I am A NATIVE SPEAKER!!!" Anyway, in any case, there are many other functions to try in this program, so let's see how my Italian will come out in the end. :P

結果は、「やったね！」と。でも、このプログラムを練習している時に、ふと「ネイティブのアレだったら、いつも「わぁお〜！」となるのかな」と疑問が。そこで、昨晩、このプログラムをアレに試してもらった。もちろん、アレは自信満々。しかし、、何度か「もっと、練習してね〜！」というメッセージが。アレも、「えぇぇええ！僕はネイティブだよ〜〜！」とヤッキになっている様子。ま、何はともあれ、このプログラムには色々な機能があるみたいで、私のイタリア語が最終的にはどうなることか乞うご期待。
