Walking in the Shoreline Park:　ショアライン公園を散歩
There was a hawk, sitting like this. We could get very close to this hawk.
こんな感じで、鷹が座っていた。この鷹は無防備なのか、かなり近くまで近寄れた。

We had dinner at our place, inviting Dragana and Nikola.
ダラガナとニコラを我が家に招いて、晩ご飯。
They brought us this dessert called "Durian fruit cake". Since we talked about how unbearable this fuit was on the other time, they found this cake for our venture... and it was bearable.

ドリアンフルーツケーキという名のデザートを持ってきてくれた。以前、このドリアンというフルーツがいかに堪え難いフルーツかを話したことがあったので、とりあえずはこのケーキからということで、持ってきてくれた。食べてみると、意外と大丈夫だった。

Carlo's visit: カルロがやってくる Carlo arrived at the airport around 11 p.m. Because of the time difference between Chicago and here, he was really hungry. So we went to this restaurant next to the ocean for lunch.
カルロは、11時頃空港に着いた。シカゴとここの時差のせいか、カルロはとてつもなくお腹をすかせていたので、海岸沿いにあるこのレストランでランチをした。

This is the beach next to this restaurant. There are many people surfing there. Maybe in the future, we might want to give a try to surfing?!
これが、レストランの横にあったビーチ。たくさんの人がサーフィンを楽しんでいた。たぶん、いつか、私たちもサーフィンにトライしてもいいかも？

de Yong Museum: We went to this museum to enjoy some arts. The building and tower were nice and interesting since we could see the view of San Francisco, but their art collection was not that great.

ディヨン美術館：どこに行こうかと考えたあげく、この比較的新しい美術館へ芸術鑑賞へ。この建物とタワーはサンフランシスコの風景がみえよかったものの、ここの芸術品は、いまいちだった。
Ale liked this art piece..：アレは、この芸術品が気に入ったとか。

After visiting the museum and another place, we went to Japan Town in San Francisco. We did not plan to eat dinner there, but we were too hungry to go to a different restaurant. We had Nabeyaki-Udon. Very Japanese atmosphere..
美術館とほかの場所を訪れた後、サンフランシスコの日本町へ来た。晩ご飯をここで食べるつもりじゃなかったけど、とてもお腹が空いていたので、ほかの場所に行くのも耐えられず、ここで夕食を。鍋焼きうどんを食べた。とても日本らしい雰囲気だった。

Krumiri: クルミリ（クッキー）
Ale got the Italian cookies called "Krumiri" as a Christmast present. We both really liked this cookie especially with a cup of cappucino. Now the cookies are gone, so Ale started criticizing me for eating this too much. :( (even though I think Ale ate as much as I did....)

アレが、この『クルミリ』というイタリアのクッキーをクリスマスプレゼントでもらった。私もアレも、このクッキーとカプチーノのコンビネーションが好きで、あっという間にクッキーは終了。アレに、「エミコ、チョットタベスギダヨ〜！」と文句を言われた。（けど、アレも同じぐらい食べてたと思うけどなぁ。）

さんま定食：mackerel pike set menuOn the other day we bought mackerel pikes at a Korean supermarket. This fish is one of my favorites, but it is difficult to find in regular supermarkets in the States. Since Elisa and Enrico were coming to our place, we bought 5 of them, but they didn't come to our place in the end. So we have to eat three more of this fish again very soon. No more "mackerel pikes" for a while...

先日、韓国食材店に行って、秋刀魚を購入。私の好きな魚の一つで、アメリカの普通のスーパーでは売ってない。（日本食材店か韓国食材店）エリザとエンリコが家にやってくることになっていたので、秋刀魚を５尾買ったものの、突然来られなくなったとかで、残りの３尾、近々料理することになりそう。しばらく秋刀魚はいいかなぁ、、、と。

New TV:新しいテレビWe bought this new flat 40" screen SONY TV and a DVD player for our living room. We would like to make our living room a movie theater little by little.

液晶４０インチのソニーのテレビとDVDプレヤーを購入した。こうやって、少しずつ、私たちのリビングルームを映画館のようにしたいなぁと思っているのだけど、、、。

Happy Birthday Ale!：アレ、誕生日おめでとう！

Ale requested fried rice with shrimp and dumplings for his birthday diner. Also, this Linux magazine is my birthday present for him.
誕生日のディナーに、焼き飯（エビ入り）と餃子をリクエストしたアレ。（子供のようなリクエストでしょ？）それから、このリノックスの雑誌をプレゼントした。

He requested Souffle' Cheese cake, so I baked it.
ケーキは、スフレチーズケーキがいいとのことで、これも私が焼きました。

Ale is opening his present and reading his card.
アレ、プレゼントを開け、カードを読んでいるところ。

Back to Lima:リマに戻る

We walked around in Lima. Ale is standing in front of Catedral.
リマ市街を歩く。アレ、大聖堂の前にて写真を。

Plaza de Armas (The building behind is where the present lives.)
アルマス広場：後ろの建物に、ペルー大統領が住んでいるらしい。

There are army people, police men and even a tank in the city. This really makes us wonder if this country is really safe to be..
市内には、軍隊や警察、それに戦車までが。大丈夫なんかえぇ？この国は？

We tried to see Japan over this Pacific ocean, but it was a little bit cloudy.
太平洋にたどり着き、日本を見ようと思ったけど、ちょっと曇っていたみたい。

We were walking to the restaurant which we picked for our romantic last dinner in Peru.
ペルー最後のロマンテックなディナーのためにこのレストランを選び、そこに向かう途中。
Of course, we ordered fish. It was a little bit too much cream on the top of the fish though.
もちろん、お魚を注文。でもクリームソースがべったりとのっていて、ちょっとがっかり。
Ale ordered another fish. I think Ale's was better than mine.
アレもちがうお魚を注文。アレの方が、私のより美味しかったと思う。

Yes, this is the restaurant where we had dinner.
はい、これが、私たちがディナーをしたレストラン。

Back to Cusco and Goobye to Cusco: クスコに帰り、クスコから去る

Back to Cusco from Machu Picchu at night. We went out for dinner at a restaurant nearby. Ale ordered a tasty pork.
夜マチュピチュからクスコに戻る。ホテルの近くにあるレストランでディナーをした。アレはポークステーキを注文した。

Going back to Lima by this old airplane. We walked to our plane from the airport.
この古い飛行機でリマまで戻ることに。空港のラウンジから飛行機までは、なぜか徒歩。

Machu Picchu：マチュピチュ

Finally we arrived in Machu Picchu:
ついにマチュピチュ到着！
It was a little bit foggy when we arrived.
着いた時は、ちょっと霧がかかっていた。

Now you can see Machu Picchu clearly.
マチュピチュがはっきりと見えるでしょ！

Ceremonial bath (one of the 16 connected ones) cascades across the ruins.
この遺跡内を16個の水路が流れている。

アレ、ラマの友達にご挨拶。ラマにとって、アレよりも草の方がいいみたい。

We stayed at Machu Picchu for 4 hours to explore. You can walk around in the ruins, so time really flies.
４時間ぐらいマチュピチュ遺跡を探索してまわった。遺跡内は自由に歩けるので、時間はあっという間に過ぎてしまった。

Ready to Machu Picchu: マチュピチュに向けて

We stayed this hotel in Ollantaytambo, where is somewhere between Cusco and Machu Picchu.
クスコとマチュピチュの間にあるオランタイタンブーのこのホテルに一泊した。

We are walking to the station to catch our train to Machu Picchu.
マチュピチュに向かう電車に乗るため、駅に歩いて向かっている。

Yes, our train is arriving:　いぇ〜い、電車が到着！

To Sacred Valley: インカの聖なる谷へ

We stopped by a village where we can feed llama and vicugna.
ラマやビクーニャに餌をあげることができる村に寄った。

Ale is feeding a llama:アレ、ラマに餌をあげている。

I am feeding another llama:私も、ラマちゃんに、餌を！

Very aggressive llama! Hungry!：とってもガツガツとしたラマちゃん。お腹空いてるのかな？

In the same village, they weave from hair of llama or vicugna.
同じむらで、ラマやビクーニャの毛を使って織っている。


In Pisac:ピザックへ
It started raining when we were visiting this ruin, so we got this poncho. There are nice Inca terraces behind.
この遺跡を訪れている時に、雨が降り始めてしまう。後ろに見えるのが、インカのテラス。

By the time when we are going down, it stopped raining. Another view of the same terraces.
降りる頃には雨も止み、同じテラスの写真を上からとってみた。

There is a market in Pisac. There are tons of the same shops in this market.
ピザックにはマーケットがあって、同じような店がわんさか並ぶ。

There are hu~~ge stones on the top of the terraces. They were really impressive. Ale is expressing his impression of this ruin.

テラスの頂上には、きょ〜だいな石がど〜んとある。すご〜いの一言かな。アレは、この遺跡の印象を体で表現しているとか。

Cusco (Day 3): クスコ三日目In the morning, we went out for cafe to write our postcards over breakfast. We ordered one apple pie to share, but it was really big!
朝、朝ご飯を食べながら葉書でも書くか〜とカフェへ。アップルパイを一皿注文したのだけど、大きくてびっくり！
Qoricancha (means "golden courtyard") : This Inca site forms the base of the colonial church of Santo Domingo. Just like other buildings, the Spanish built thier churches or buildings on the Inca buildingss. In Inca times, this temple was literally convered with gold...
コリカンチャ（意味：太陽の神殿）：このインカ遺跡はサントドミンゴ教会の基盤になってしまっている。多くの建物がそうであるように、スペインが侵略してきて、インカ帝国の建物の上に、かれらの教会やら建物を建てたらしい。インカ時代は、この神殿は、金でおおわれていたとか。

This famous wall around this temple did not fall even by the violent earthquakes that leveled most of Cusco's colonial buildings. Of course, it can stand Ale's weight, no problems.
この神殿を囲む有名な壁は、多くのクスコにある植民地時代の建物が崩壊するぐらいの強い地震でも、びくともしなかったらしい。というわけで、アレの重さにも十分に耐えられる。

Zig-zag stone work. It seems that this is the reason why this building has withstood the earthquake.
ジグザグな石の設計。このおかげで、地震にも耐えられたとか。
Ale is trying out how strong this stone work is...
アレ、この石の強さを試してみたいとこんなことをしています。

There was a nice place to sit and write our postcards in this temple.
この神殿内には、こうやって座って、葉書を書ける、素敵な場所もあった。

We went out for shopping and found this nice cozy and small shop run by this Peruvian girl. She was really nice and we really liked her shop.
買い物に出かけ、そこで、このペルー人の女の子が経営する小さくて素敵なお店を見つけた。彼女はとても優しく、私たちもこの店がかなり気に入った。

After our meeting, we went out for dinner with our tour group. Carlos (Peruvian) is our tour leader. Two Swiss girls and one girl from Hong Kong.
ミーティングの後、ツアーの人たちと一緒に夕食に。カルロス（ペルー人）が、私たちのツアーリーダーで、ほかにスイス人の女の子が二人と、香港人の女の子が一人。
