おもてなし：Inviting
We invited Elisa and Enrico who really helped us for moving.
引越でお世話になった、エンリコ夫婦を家でおもてなししました。
Today's chef is ALE.
今日のシェフはアレ。
Risotto con porcini: ポルチーニのリゾット。
Today's meat dish was sliced beef with rucola and added balsamic vinegar on the top. The meat was very tender and tasty.
肉料理は、薄切りステーキとルッコラ菜で、肉もとても柔らかくて、バルサミコ酢とよく合っておいしかったです。
これは、エリザが作って持って来てくれたチョコレートケーキ。
This is a chocolate cake that Elisa baked and brought it.
We spent a very nice evening chatting about many things and we did not realize that it was already almost midnight... Time flies.
いろいろ話して、気がつけば深夜でした。楽しいひとときでした。

Living room: リビング
So far I really enjoyed sitting in a living room.
リビングでいろいろしてますが、なかなか居心地もいいです。
Spring came and there are so many different kinds of flowers available now and we bought some flowers for our dinning table.
春になって、花の種類もいろいろで、ファーマーズマーケットで買ってダイニングテーブルに置いてみました。
A friend of Ale brought us a bunch of tulips. I like tulips. :)
アレの友達がチューリップの束を持って来てくれました。チューリップって、かわいい花だなと思います。

Gardening:ガーデニング（っていうか家庭菜園か？）
Since our new place has a little space to plant something, we spent one morning through afternoon to clean up there.
この庭には何か植えられるスペースというのがあって、半日ほど、二人でここに何か植えられるようにしてみました。
Ale was full of energy in the beginning, I supposed, after looking at this picture.
初めは結構元気だっただなぁとこの写真を見ると思います。
It was like this in the beginning with a lot of weeds, so we had to clean them first before planting anything.
こんな感じで、本当に草がボウボウで、、、草取りから始まりました。
When we were getting rid of weeds, we found a lot of worms in the ground, but this one did not look like a worm, so we observed him for a while and found out that he must be a just-born lizard since he hasn't developed his legs yet. However, he does have small tiny legs when he walks.
草取りをしてたら、ミミズもたくさん出て来たけど、これは何だか少し違うような気がすると、二人で観察したところ、おそらく、まだ産まれたばかりのトカゲではないかと、、。まだ足がないように見えたけど、よ〜く見ると小さいのがちょこっと付いてました。
I was working hard and Ale took a picture of me, working hard...
こんな感じで、ひたすら、草をとりました。
This is a picture after we finished working. Didn't it become very clean?
We planted a variety of seeds. So far, shiso (Japanese herb), spinach, rucola, basil, zucchini, strawberries, cicoria, tomato... we really hope that they will grow and we can eat them one day.
これが、アフターです〜！いや〜、綺麗になった〜！
この後、色々植えてみました。今のところ、しそ、ほうれん草、ルッコラ、バジル、ズッキーニ、いちご、サラダ菜、トマト、、。うまく実をつけてくれるといいのだけど、、。


HOWEVER, the following day, this place was already attacked by squirrels. I guess they digged for seeds to eat. uhm...
でも、翌日、既に荒らされていたのです。リスに。どうやら、種をもとめて土をあさったみたいでした。はぁああ、。

Weekend: ある週末
It has been crazy for the last a few weekends, but finally we had a rather relaxing weekend for ourselves.
先週、先々週とここのところ週末はけっこうバタバタして、忙しかったけど、やっと落ち着いた週末を迎えることができました。
This is the first packet that we received since we moved in a new place. Wondering who sent us. It was zii from Genova and those chocolates that we like a lot.
引っ越してから初めて届いた小包。誰からかな〜？ジェノバの伯母さんと伯父さんから、いつも美味しいチョコレートが届きました。
We went out for a walk from early evening today. There are many mansions in this neighborhood. (In fact, those houses are too big to see from their gate sometimes.) Because of the current recession, there are several houses on sale, but their price are far from what we can afford. (like $5 or $10 millions...) In any case, this rich neighborhood has a park too, so we went there to check out. It was a big one, so by the time we got home, it was quite dark outside.
この日は、夕方ぐらいから近所の探索へ。この近所には本当に豪邸が多い。（門から家が遠くに見えるか見えなかったりの大きさ。）、この不況で売りに出ている家も多いのだけど、値段的にとてもとても（普通に５億とか１０億ぐらいの家が売ってるし。）そんな町が運営する公園があるみたいで、散歩がてら行ってみるか〜と行ったところ、これも広い。家に帰る頃には暗くなってました。
Walking back home with our empty stomach, we were deciding what to eat tonight. In the end, we decided on Ale's pizza or foccacia. The half is onions on the top and the other is tomatoes and mozzarella.
空腹なお腹を抱えて、歩いて帰りながら、「今晩、何、食べる〜？」なんて会話をした結果、今晩は、これ。アレの手作りピザ。っていうかフォカッチャ。半分は玉ねぎがのっていて、半分はトマトとモッツァレラチーズがのったもの。

Very relaxing weekend...
とってもゆったりできた週末でした〜！

Moving out completely: 引越完了
Today is the day that we returned our keys of the apartment that Ale spent almost 8 years. Feeling a little bit sad, but... we have to move on..
アレが、かれこれ８年近く過ごしたアパートを今日で完全に引払うことに。何だか少し寂しい気もするけど。
This was a living room/dining room/Ale's small computer room in the closet.
こちらが、リビング／ダイニング／そしてクローゼットのコンピュータ室があった部屋。
And this is a bed room. It looks a lot smaller after all.
で、こちらがベッドルーム。なんだかとても小さく感じました。
This is a view that we always looked at from our window.
で、こちらが、いつも眺めていた窓からの景色。
After returning our keys, we came back home and Ale started cleaning the garden. It's nice to have a garden, but from now on, we have to clean the garden too.
鍵を返して家に帰ってからは、庭掃除。庭があるってのはいいけど、でも、これからは庭掃除もしなくちゃいけないのよね〜。大変だ。

At Giorgio's: ジョルジョの家で
Giorgio invited us to his place to have dinner together with his mother who is visiting him in California.
ジョルジョのお母さんがカリフォルニアに来ているので、と夕食に招いてくれました。
Giorgio is always a great chef. In fact, this is a second piatto. (pork, green vegetables (I don't know exactly what it was, but very fragrant), puree (another vegetable that I did not know, but he said that it looked like a white carrott one.)) The first piatto was a risotto with several different herbs.
ジョルジョの手料理はプロ並みで、この写真も、実はメインディシュで（ポーク、緑の野菜（すごく香りがある野菜で美味しかったけど，どの野菜かは分らなかったわ〜）、ピュレ（この野菜も始めて聞くもので、ジョルジョによると、白い人参の形をしている野菜なのだとか。見たことも食べたこともなかったけど、本当に何ともすごくまろやかな味で本当においしかったわ〜）、この前にいろんなハーブを入れたリゾットがあったのだけど、すごく美味しくて写真をとるのも忘れてしまいました。
One after another, he brought those wonderful dishes from the kitchen.
次から次へと、台所から色々運んでくれるジョルジョ。
These are the sweets that Giorgio's mother brought with her directly from Italy. Very delicate flavor and not too sweet, so I couldn't resist to eat a few or more... :P
これは、お母さんがイタリアから直輸入してきてくれたお菓子。すごくデリケートで、甘すぎず、ついつい手が伸びてしまいました。

Settled down in a kitchen: 台所も片付いたかな？！
Well, little by little we settled down in a new place. So I tried to use a new oven to bake some cookies.
ちょっとずつだけど、新しい所も落ち着いてきて、オーブンもあるので、さっそくクッキーでも焼いてみました。
My Mom used to bake this kind of cookies when I was a kid. I felt a little bit nostalgic.
子どもの時に家の母が焼いてくれていたクッキーです。懐かしいな〜と。
I put those cookies in a dish for Ale when he came back home from work. Ale was very pleased and I felt so happy.
アレが仕事から帰ってきて食べられるように、こうやって置いておきました。とっても喜んでくれて、つくりがいがあったな〜と。

Ale's new office: アレの新しいコンピュータ部屋
Well, since we moved to a bigger place, he got a better (bigger) room for himself. (his old computer room was here.)
ま、少し大きい場所に引越したし、アレのコンピュータの部屋もよくなりました。（前のアレのコンピュータの部屋はこちら。）
He is surfing on internet like this (always!).
こんな感じで、インターネットしてます。（いつも〜！）
We don't have much furniture yet, so it looked empty, but we are talking about buying a sofa bed to have our guests to sleep in this room.
まだ、あまり家具がないので、がら〜んとしていますが、ソファベッドでも買って、お客さんがここで寝られるようにしようか〜と話しているところです。

Moving Day: 引越の日
We rent a truck to move our big furniture for a day.
一日、大きな家具を動かすため、トラックを１台レンタカーしました。
Ale felt a little bit uncomfortable to drive this truck in the beginning.
初めは、こんなトラックは運転しづらいな〜なんて言っていたアレだけど、、、。

Without realizing it, there are more and more things in an apartment. Surprising enough, we did not think that we owned many things, but we ended up loading and unloading things with this truck twice. uhm.. very scary.
知らず知らずのうちに、荷物って増えるんですね〜。びっくりです。小さいアパートであんまりモノはないと思っていたのに、、。このトラックで２往復することになるほどモノ持ちになっていたとは、、、恐るべし〜。
Anyway, at least we were able to unload all the things in a new house. It was a long and tiring day.
とりあえず、すべてのモノを新しい家に運び入れ、一息。いや〜、長い一日でした。
Thanks to Enrico and Elisa, we could do our moving, so we went out for dinner to "Bikini bar".
エリザとエンリコのおかげで、無事にこうやって引越も終了したので、晩ご飯は、「ビキニバー」に行くことに、、、
Just kidding, we went to a Japanese restaurant. It must have been tastier after their long heavy physical labor. というのは、うそで、その近くの日本の居酒屋に行きました。肉体労働の後の一杯は格別でしょう。

Today's dinner is "Vongole pasta": 今日の夕飯は「ボンゴレスパゲッティー」
We went to a grocery shopping this afternoon and bought a nice pack of vongole at a Japanese supermarket.
午後に、食料調達の買い物に行ったら、日本の食材店においしそうなあさりがパックで売っていてそれを買いました。
Therefore, it's Vongole pasta tonight.
だから、今日は、ボンゴレスパゲッティー！
It was really good! It took around 30 minutes to cook and less than 2 minutes to finish it. :(
おいしかった〜！作るのに、３０分ぐらい。食べるの、２分弱だったわ〜。
Well, today's Ale's request was "sables", so I made them for us. The shapes are easy circles, dove sables (imitation from Kamakura hato sabure), and owl. This recipe has less sugar and butter, so it was not sweet much. Supposedly there are 60 small cookies out of the recipe, but our shapes must be a lot bigger than they supposed to be... ops...
SABLES D'UOVAで、今日はアレのリクエストに応えて、サブレを焼きました。形は、鎌倉の鳩サブレのパクリと、ふくろう。かなり甘さ控えめで、レシピでは小さいクッキーが６０枚できるはずだったのだけど、一個が大き過ぎたのかな？これだけでした。
Ale was wondering which one to bite...

To San Francisco: サンフランシスコへ
For the last several weekends, it was rain, rain, and rain. However, this weekend was so sunny and warm. Also, I got a free train-pass from Stanford since we moved to a new place. So we took a train to go to S.F. and enjoyed this sunny day in the city.
ここ何週間か週末はかなり雨、雨、雨だったのだけど、この週末は久しぶりに晴れて暖かくなりました。それに、引越のおかげで、スタンフォードから電車の定期をもらったので、サンフランシスコまで電車で行って、サンフランシスコを満喫しよう〜！というわけです。
Whenever we come to the city, we never miss seeing some strange people or some people with a very strange outfit. Somehow I enjoyed those people to watch.
サンフランシスコって、来るたびに、へんな人や変な格好をした人を見かけます。それが、何だか町でいいな〜とか思いました。

For lunch, we went to an old ferry building (now it's renovated with a lot of nice shops and some restaurants). And I went to a Japanese Deli to get a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) bento box.
ランチは、古いフェリーの建物（今は改装されておしゃれな店やレストランが入っている所）に行きました。私は、和食のデリカの店で、トンカツ弁当にしました。
Ale had a sandwiches from a specializing prosciutto shop in the same building. Ale really liked it a lot, but he was complaining the size (too small) and the price (too expensive).
アレは、同じ建物の中にある、生ハム専門店のサンドイッチ。美味しかったらしいけど、量が少ない上に、高いと文句を言っていました。
After lunch, it was already almost 3 p.m., so we walked to the center of the city to walk around. This building always catches my eyes. Interesting... isn't it?
ランチが終わったら、すでに３時。それから、町の繁華街にむかって歩きました。この建物は来るたびに気になっていた建物です。おもしろいでしょ。

Today we walked really a lot, it seemed. We felt sooo tired. Ale felt the same about his feet, so we massaged each others' feet. Well, I guess we don't walk much these days?!?
今日はアホみたいに歩いて、疲れた〜！アレッサンドロも同感で、家に帰ってからお互いフットマッサージをしあいこしました。日頃、あまり歩いてないのかな〜と反省。

The first day of our new place: 新しい家の初日
We received a key from our landlord to enter a new place finally.
大家さんから、鍵をもらい、ついに新しい家に入りました。
This is a grapefruit tree. There are already a lot of grapefruits on the tree, so we are looking forward to tasting them soon.
これはグレープフルーツの木。結構、実もたくさんなっていて、楽しみ。
There is also a lemon tree in the garden. Ale got one from each tree for us to try them. This grapefruit was a little bit too early to be picked, so it was rather sour, but it was good.
庭には、グレープフルーツと檸檬の木も。一つずつ採って、試してみることにしました。ちなみに、グレープフルーツはまだ早かったみたいで、少しすっぱかったけど、なかなかでした。
This is a living room on the first floor. We haven't put any furniture yet, so the room looks very spacious.
こちらが、一階のリビングです。まだ家具も入れてないので、広々と感じました。
This is a room on the second floor. It has a high-ceiling, but it's hard to tell from this picture. We enjoyed our conversation, saying "Let's put that furniture here and that furniture there, etc etc...".
これは、二階の一部屋。天井がかなり高いのだけど、この写真じゃあわからないな。「ここにあれを置いて、それから、あれはここに〜」なんて会話をしました。
