Long weekend: 連休

Since Monday was Memorial Day, it was a long weekend.

メモリアルデーの休日が月曜だったので、連休となりました。

It was a really nice weather, so we went out for a walk together.

天気もいいし、三人で近所に散歩に行きました。
Another day for a walk to a park nearby. Edo was looking at some animals in the park.

つぎの日も近くの公園まで散歩。英土は公園にいる動物に見入っていました。
There were many ducks and fish in the pond of the park.

公園の池にはあひるや魚がたくさんいました。
Then we went to the playground part of the park and Edo enjoyed the tunnel.

その後、同じ公園にある遊具のある所に行って、英土はトンネルの中を這っていました。

Nonni's depature: イタリアのおじいちゃんおばあちゃん帰る
One month passed by so quickly and we went to the airport to send them off...
一ヶ月はあっという間に過ぎ、空港に送りに行きました。
Until the very end, they really entertained Edo a lot. Grazie!
本当に最後の最後まで、遊んでもらった英土は幸せものです。

Edo and Sandrino: 英土とサンドリーノ
As they get older, they start kind of getting interacted a little.
だんだん大きくなるにつれて、二人とも何となくお互いに興味を持って一緒に遊んでいる感じがしないでもありません。
Sandrino received magnets as his birthday present and now Edo was interested in his magnets.
サンドリーノは誕生日プレゼントにマグネットをもらったみたいで、そのマグネットに興味深々の英土でした。

At a park: 公園
We all walked to a park nearby in one afternoon.
午後、みんなで歩いて近くの公園まで行って来ました。
着いた時には、階段であそび疲れた英土はぐっすりねて、
When we arrived at the park, Edo fell asleep after playing on the stairs at home for a long time.
サンドリーノも同じく寝てしまいました。
So did Sandrino.
せっかく来たのに寝ていては、と寝返りをうった時に、お父さんに起こされてブランコにのせられる英土。
So when Edo was changing his position while sleeping, Ale picked up Edo and put him in a swing. Ale said, it's waste for kids to sleep in the park...
なんか、まだねむそう。
Edo is still sleepy?!
そら〜、滑り台も！と強引に。

While Edo was kind of forced to play, finally Sanrino woke up and started playing...

Edo 10 months old Birthday: 英土、１０ヶ月になりました。
Edo's 10 months birthday is with his nonni.
They got him a wonderful present!
英土の１０ヶ月のお祝いはイタリアのおじいちゃんとおばあちゃんも一緒でした。
で、イタリアのおじいちゃんとおばあちゃんから素敵なプレゼントももらいました。

木のおもちゃの車でした。
Wood toy car.
Silvio showed Edo how to play with it.
おじいちゃんが英土の遊び方を伝授中。
Edo started following his nonno.
英土は、おじいちゃんの後を追ってました。
With this toy, Edo learned how to pull a string to bring things toward himself.
このおもちゃで、最初に学んだことは、ひもをひっぱって、物を自分の手元に近づけることでした。

Good time with Nonni:イタリアのおじいちゃんおばあちゃんの滞在
One month passed by so quickly and we, especially Edo, had great time with nonni.
１ヶ月はあっという間に過ぎ、英土が一番おじいちゃん、おばあちゃんとの時間を過ごせたみたい。
When I had one day off from teaching, we all went to Filoli Garden together. Edo ate a lot when we were here. I guess the nice refreshing atmosphere gave him a good appetite.
私が平日で一日お休みの日に、みんなでフィロリガーデンに行ってゆっくり過ごしました。英土も雰囲気がよかったせいか、食欲旺盛でした。

At the restaurant, while we were waiting, they gave us some coloring for kids, so Edo was learning coloring from his nonna.
レストランで待っている間、子供用のぬりえをくれたので、英土もノンナにぬりえを教えてもらっていました。
Edo with his nonno: Silvio found this funny picture on the wall, and suggested this picture!
英土とノンノ。シルビオがこの壁の絵を見つけて、「こんな写真とってみよっか」となりました。
Well... Edo got sick for one week and passed his disease to everybody in the house. In any case, Edo became very comfortable with his nonno.
え、、英土が１週間ほど病気にかかり、その病気が家中の皆さんにうつり、、。ま、とにかく、英土もノンノのそばにいて、ゆる〜くなって寝たりするようになりました。
Edo's favorite place to play.
もっぱら階段が一番好きな所みたい。
Edo endlessly going ups and downs on the stairs. I bet this is going to be good exercise for his legs.
階段を上がったり、降りたり、いい足腰の運動になります。

While his nonni stayed here for one month, Edo was very happy since they took Edo out a lot with them and spent very nice time.
１ヶ月の滞在の間、本当にいろんな所に連れて行ってもらったみたいで、英土も大満足でした。
We went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner. It was fun...
日本食のレストランに行きました。楽しかった、、、。

新車購入：New Car!
Finally after our long search, we finally bought a new car. In fact, we almost decided to buy a prius and then the prius recall incident happened...　we did test drive on prius and other many cars.
ついに、いろいろ見続けて、新車を購入しました。ま、プリウスにしようと思っていた矢先に、あのプリウスのリコールがあって、振り出しにもどり、いろんな車を試乗しました。

We got inside of Honda insight, but it seemed lower inside, so we did not like it much.
HONDAのインサイトも見たけど、やっぱり車内が低い感じで断念。
Honda Fits: I liked it and also my brother drives this one, but Ale thinks this is a little too small for us...
HONDAのフィッツ：とんべも運転してるし、結構私は気に入ったのだけど、アレ的にはちょっと小さいかなぁと。で、断念。
Audi A3 TDI: This new green technology car and fancy one... I fell in love with it and we did test drive on this too. It was a good car after all, but it was too sporty and low inside...
アウディ：グリーンテクノロジーを施した素敵な車。燃費もすごくよく、試乗もさせてもらって、まあいい車だねということになったのだけど、ちょっとスポーティーすぎるかな〜ってのと、車体が低いかなぁということで、やめました。
And we started looking into some VW cars since Audi and VW share the same technology. Firstly, we did test drive on Jetta Wagon, but it seemed too big for us at this point.
で、アウディと同じ系列のフォルクスワーゲンの車もチェックし始めました。で、同じグリーンテクノロジーのステーションワゴンに試乗。でも、これはちょっと大きすぎるかなぁと思えました。
And after all, we bought VW Golf. It came with a sunroof and we are really satisfied with our new car!
で、結局、VWのゴルフにしました。サンルーフもついてすごく気に入っています。

エドの三輪車：Edo's tricycle
エドのおじいちゃんおばあちゃんが、サンドリーノの誕生日で三輪車を見て喜ぶエドに、ちょっと早いけどと言って同じ三輪車をプレゼントしてくれました。
After Edo's grandparents saw Edo enjoying playing Sandrino's tricycle on his birthday, they bought the same tricycle for Edo as his early birthday present.

わんちゃんのぬいぐるみを乗せて、押して遊んでました。その様子のビデオはこちら。
After Edo got bored, he dragged the dog down from the tricycle and then he sat there with his big smile.
それに飽きたら、わんちゃんを引きずり落として、自分が座って満足げでした。

Sandrino's Birthday Continued: サンドリーノの誕生日会の続き
After the party, we took a walk in Berkeley and Sandrino was on his new gear.
パーティーの後、バークレーを散歩しました。サンドリーノはもちろん新しい三輪車で！
It's a good season and there were many flowers bloomed. It was a nice walk in the afternoon.
とてもいい季節でいろんな花が咲いていて、いい散歩になりました。
After coming back from walk, our little ones were hungry, so a little snack time.
Elisa gave Edo her home-made yogurt. Usually Edo was not so keen on yogurt, but he really liked hers.
散歩から帰って来たら、エドもサンドリーノもお腹がすいていたので、ちょっとしたおやつの時間をしました。エリザがホームメイドのヨーグルトをくれました。エドはあんまりヨーグルトは好きじゃないのだけど、エリザのヨーグルトはアフアフ言って食べてました。
アレは私たちがあげたサンドリーノにあげたプレゼントでさっそく遊んでいました。
Ale was playing with the present that we gave to Sandrino.
Well, Edo is very energetic but a little bit violent. So Sandrino is always cautious to Edo.
エドですが、、元気がいいと言えば聞こえはいいのだけど、なんとも乱暴もので、サンドリーノもすごく警戒してるのです、、、。
Their grandpa got THE moment with his camera. After this, Sandrino started crying whenever Edo came into 1 meter circle around him.
二人のおじいちゃんがその瞬間をカメラにおさめました。この後からでしょうか、半径１メートルぐらいにエドが来ると、サンドリーノが泣き始めるようになったのは、、。

Sandrino's Birthday Party: サンドリーノの誕生日会！
Sandrino became one year old and we celebrated his first one together.
サンドリーノも１歳になり、みんなでいっしょに祝いました。

Elisa made this cake for Sandrino.
エリザの手作りケーキ。
And this is the one that his grandparents got for Sandrino.
これが、おじいちゃんおばあちゃんからのサンドリーノへのプレゼント。エドはプレゼントを探している時にいろいろ乗っていたせいか、わがもののように扱っていました。
From this picture, somehow Sandrino and Edo looked like they were playing nicely together...
こうやって写真で見ると、仲良さそうに遊んでいるようにみえるんですけどね、、、。
After Edo bugged Sandrino enough, the grandparents put Edo together with Sandrino, but Sandrino looked very sad and dissatisfied. Video
