To Opera: オペラへ
Since Alessandro has been a great fan of operas, we went out for opera this Saturday night.
アレッサンドロはオペラ好きで、この土曜日はオペラに行きました。
The show started at 8 pm, so we had light dinner at home and went out for opera.
オペラは８時スタートだったので、うちで軽く夕飯を食べてから出かけました。

今回のオペラは『カルメン』。フランス語のオペラですが、フランス人がスペインをイメージして書いたものだけあって、音楽はとてもスペイン調。４幕からなっているけど、結構聞いたことがあるな〜という曲がところどころにあって、こういうオペラはやっぱり楽しめるな〜と実感。
This time's opera was "Carmen". It is a French Opera, but the writer wrote it with Spanish setting in his mind, so the music had somehow Spanish-flavor. There were four acts all together, but there were so many music familiar to my ears through the opera, I really enjoyed this one. I guess, in order to enjoy operas in general, I should know more opera music..

To Muir Woods: ミュアウッズ国定公園
We haven't visited parks lately, so it was a nice sunny autumn day, we visited this park today.
ここんところ、全然ハイキングやアウトドアから離れていたのだけど、何とも言えない秋晴れで、今日はミュアウッズに行ってきました。

Ale was ready to be taken many pictures.

バレーのポーズなんだって。
When walking on the paths, there was a big tree lying like this, so I tried to pass the tree just like I do limbo dance.
歩いていたら、大木がこんな感じであって、リンボーダンスで行かなくては、、、。
I don't know what kind of posture Ale was trying, but...
ま、どういうことを表現しようとしているのかいまいちわかりかねますが、何かを表現してるのでしょう。
Ale said, "well, now your turn, Emiko. Do something!" Therefore, I expressed myself like this. "Let's move on!"
「じゃ、次、エミコのばんね、なんかやって〜！」って言うもんだから、、、。私もこんな感じで、「はよ、いこうや〜！」って感じを表現してみました。

Though we saw many people at the entrance, but we took a steep trail, so there was almost no one, so we could do stupid stuff like expressing ourselves on the road...
けっこう、入り口には人がたくさんいたのだけど、ハードで急斜面のコースってのを選んだせいか、ほとんど人を見かけず。おかげで、こうやって道でへんなポーズをすることもできて、公園を満喫しました。

Pizza night: ピザナイト
Since we got the new blender, Alessandro made home-made pizza from scratch.
新しいミキサーを手に入れたので、アレッサンドロが生地からの手作りピザを作ってくれました。
Standard focaccia: フォカッチャ
This simple focaccia as a starter.
このシンプルなフォカッチャから始めました
Pizza with a) tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil b) egg plants, maitake mushrooms, onions, and mozzarella.
ピザ２種類
①プチトマト、モツェレラチーズ、フレッシュバジル
②なす、舞茸、玉ねぎ、モツェレラチーズ
Which one did it look tasty for you? The dough rose so much (thanks to the new blender?!) and the dough was very crusty-good!
どのピザがおいしそうだったかな？今回は（新しいミキサーのおかげか？！）生地はとっても膨らんで、クラストもとってもおいしかったわ〜！
ちなみに、全部完食はできませんでした。次の日のランチにもなりました。
p.s. We did not finish all the pizza on the same night. We ate the left-over for lunch on the following day as well.

Early Christmas on Magnamoto land:
ちょっと早いクリスマスプレゼント

Alessandro's credit card.... without realizing it, we spent a lot with it. Without realizing it, we got many points, a lot of points for us to get these items for free...
アレッサンドロのクレジットカード、、、気がつけばとっても遣っていたみたいで、知らないうちに、ごっそりポイントも溜まっていて、ポイントで、こんなものを手に入れました。
Kitchen Aid brand: We have been thinking about this blender, but it is a little bit on an expensive side, and we were not sure, but this is for free... for why not?!
キッチンエイドのブランド：このミキサー、かなり気になっていたのだけど、ちょっと高めだし（ちなみに日本円だと６万近くするみたい）、そんなこんなで、戸惑っていたのだけど、ま、ただでもらえるってなら、、ってね。
What shall we make with it?!? I have been enjoying thinking of possible recipes using this machine. In fact, this machine came with its own recipe as well.
これで、何を作ろっかな〜？夢が膨らむ〜！このミキサーと一緒にレシピ本もあって、、、楽しみ。
I would have been just happy with this small one, but Alessandro got me the other big blender as well. Now I don't have to have a muscular pain after making some sweets.
この小さいのだけでもかなりうれしかったけど、大きいミキサーももらってくれて、、、。これからは、お菓子やケーキを作っても、筋肉痛にならんですみます。そういや、最近、あんまり作ってなかったなぁ。こんなに器材を揃えてくれるってことは、何かのメッセージかしらん？

Late BIRTHDAY PRESENT from Ale:
アレからの遅ればせながらの誕生日プレゼント：
Since Ale knew that there was a rumor that Apple would update their Macbook and Macbook Pro, he said to me on my birthday, "I have a great idea for your birthday present, but you have to wait a little bit longer..."
Finally Apple released their new macbook and macbook pro yesterday and when I came back home, I found a new Macbook Pro on my desk. :)
アレは、アップル社がMacBookとMacBook Proを近々新しくするといううわさを知っていて、私の誕生日に、「誕生日プレゼントだけど、いい考えがあるんだけど、ちょっと待ってもらわなくちゃいけない、、、」と。
でもって、昨日アップル社が新しいMacBookとMacBook Proをリリースしまして、私が家に帰って来たら、私の机の上に、、新しいMacBook Proが座っていました〜！！！
Well, this is my new computer, and I am updating this blog with this new computer. Well, I might update it more often thanks to this computer then. :P
てなわけで、これが私の新しいコンピュータ。そして、このブログもこのコンピュータにて書いてます。

村上春樹のトークへいく：
Haruki Murakami's talk:
No doubt that Haruki Murakami is one of my favorite writers. I have read almost all his books. Murakami came to Berkeley to have a talk and we went there. I really enjoyed his talk and I became even more his fan. At the end of his talk, he said that he just finished writing his new book two weeks ago and this book will be out at the beginning of January in Japan. So I can't wait to read his book. :)
Unfortunately, I was not allowed to take any pictures, so no pictures, but I really enjoyed this talk.
村上春樹は私の好きな作家で、彼の書いた本はほとんど読んでいるかな。でもって、その村上春樹がバークレーに来て話すってことになり、聞きに行って来ました。トークは本当に面白くて、やっぱ、村上春樹ってええなぁ〜と改めて思いました。そして、そのトークの最後で、どうやら最新作の執筆を２週間ほど前に終えてすっきりしている、そしてその本は来年の始め辺りに出版されるとかで、楽しみです。
残念ながら、撮影禁止だったので、写真はありませんが、トークにかなり満足しました。
